They were warmly welcomed by ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐๐ก๐ฆ๐๐ง, Director of PUSPEN Dengkil, who provided an extensive briefing on the facilityโs operations, treatment framework, and rehabilitation initiatives, followed by a guided tour, with ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข ๐๐ก๐๐๐ข๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ง๐ข, Chief Assistant Director (Planning) of the AADK Policy and International Relations Division, also in attendance.
In turn, the PPSA delegation, through ๐๐๐๐๐๐ (๐๐๐๐.) ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, shared an overview of how the Philippines addresses drug dependence and recovery, highlighting the Bureau of Jail Management and Penologyโs rehabilitation programs and the complementary efforts of government and accredited drug treatment centers in providing community-based and facility-based interventions. She emphasized the integration of counseling, skills development, spiritual formation, and aftercare support in Philippine programs, underscoring the shared commitment of both countries to treatment-focused, rights-based, and reintegration-oriented approaches.
Through this strategic learning engagement, the delegation gained valuable insights into Malaysiaโs drug treatment and recovery system, which emphasizes a holistic biopsychosocial and spiritual approach for persons recovering from substance dependency, while observing PUSPEN Dengkilโs hostel facilities, dining halls, mosque, and other support spaces designed to promote recovery, discipline, and reintegration. This visit likewise provided an avenue for exchanging expertise and best practices between Malaysia and the Philippines, broadening the cadetsโ perspectives on community-based rehabilitation, treatment-oriented corrections, and international cooperation in addressing drug dependency and recovery.
