In their continuing pursuit of excellence and operational readiness, the Fire Cadets of the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) Class of 2025 completed the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT)/Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Operations Level Training on June 05, 2025.
This intensive training was held under the expert guidance of the Bureau of Fire Protection National Headquarters (BFP NHQ) HAZMAT/CBRN Unit and Special Rescue Force, led by FSINSP DAVID R. OTING. Designed to enhance the cadets’ preparedness in responding to high-risk incidents involving hazardous materials and CBRN threats, the training equipped future fire officers with both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies essential to safeguarding lives and the environment.
The successful conduct of this program marks a critical milestone in the formation of the next generation of fire service leaders. Hence, the training concluded with the presence of PPSA Director, JSSUPT LEONALYN O OLOAN, MPSA.
The course covered vital modules including hazard identification, use of specialized protective equipment, decontamination procedures, and tactical response. Through hands-on simulations and scenario-based exercises, cadets were exposed to the realities of responding to complex emergencies with precision, discipline, and courage.
