Not All Heroes Wear Capes; Some Donate Blood and Save Lives

The Philippine Public Safety Academy joined other government organizations in celebrating the 123rd anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service (PCSA) by taking part in the nationwide bloodletting event hosted by the Civil Service Commission held at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia on September 21, 2023. Dubbed “Dugtong Buhay, Handog ng Lingkod Bayan”, the said bloodletting event was initiated to motivate government employees to contribute to the event’s aim to bolster the country’s blood reserves.

Overall, 57 cadets were successful donors and were able to amass a generous amount of blood that is foresighted to help countless patients in need. The blood collected during this program is expected to alleviate some of the challenges in the country’s healthcare landscape, ensuring that patients in need receive timely and life-saving transfusions.

After the event, CSC Commissioner Atty. Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada approached the cadets, expressing her gratitude to all the successful donors praising them for their significant contribution to the program’s cause. Further, she spared a brief message of encouragement to the cadets, inspiring them to be the torchbearers of a new era of leaders not only enriched with excellence but also fueled by compassion and integrity, who are poised to serve the nation with unparalleled dedication.

Indeed, in times when humanity is needed more than ever, the cadets have proven that in their own way, they have embodied the value of heroism— the kind that would breathe life into those who are desperately in need of it.
