The National Intelligence Coordinating Agency’s (NICA) Director General, PLTGEN RICARDO F DE LEON (Ret) Ph.D., along with PBGEN FERDINANDO G SEVILLA, MPSA, PPSC President, FCSUPT BELINDA B OCHAVE, DSC, National Fire Training Institute (NFTI) Director, JSSUPT LEONALYN O OLOAN, MPSA, Acting Director, Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) and other key officials, graced the traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine Public Safety Academy—NFSTI Compound, Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba on October 9, 2023.

Cadet Speaker CDT 3C Jose Vicente M Amazona highlighted “humility” as one of the fundamental characteristics that every leader should exhibit. “It is important to keep our feet on the ground at all times and to be kind to others. Humility is defined as the quality of being modest and respectful, of being aware of one’s strengths and limitations,” he stated.

In his speech, PLTGEN RICARDO F DE LEON supplemented the Cadet Speaker’s message on humility, emphasizing discipline qualities such as humility, obedience, orderliness, and respect. He reminded the cadets that as the academy shapes them to become future leaders in their respective bureaus, they must demonstrate commitment in writing their narratives here in PPSA, believing in their aspirations to become exemplary leaders in their time. “Your involvement will not only be significant in the history of the PPSA but also the broader context of Philippine history,” the Director General asserted.
