“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi

The Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) had the honor and privilege of taking part in the Joint Flag Raising Ceremony, which was thoughtfully organized and hosted by the National Police Training Institute (NPTI). This remarkable event took place on the auspicious date of November 13, 2023, at the esteemed Camp BGen Vicente P Lim Grandstand.

The atmosphere was charged with a sense of pride and unity as representatives from various institutions came together to pay tribute to our beloved flag. It was a momentous occasion that showcased the collective commitment and dedication of all those involved in ensuring the safety and security of our nation.

The PPSA was truly privileged and delighted to have the esteemed HON. JORGE ANTONIO “PATROL” BUSTOS graced the event as the distinguished Representative of the 1st district of Pampanga in the House of Representatives of the Philippines. His presence as the Guest of Honor and Speaker brought immense prestige and honor to our organization.

In introspection, he reminded us to reinvent and rethink the policing system that we have today. To proactively seek behind the underlying issues that each Filipino family is facing. For him, it is the gist of all social problems; how we see the world and the way we project ourselves is affected by the quality of peace and bonds that we have in our inner circle. Relatively, it is one of the factors why he made it clear, especially the uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, that to deliver exemplary services that go beyond what we are expected to do, we must first put our families’ welfare first. He also informed the troops about the advocacy that he is currently working on in Congress, specifically the inclusion of reserved force for the tri-bureau which can serve as an alternative to fellow Filipinos who prefer other branches of uniformed service other than the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Truly, we are grateful for the valuable insights and inspiring words that he shared during his speech. His passion for the cause was evident as he spoke eloquently about the importance of upholding law and order, as well as the challenges faced by our law enforcement officers.

The Joint Flag Raising was a resounding success, thanks to the active participation and support of all institutions who joined the said event. This event not only strengthened the bonds of unity within our public safety community but also reinforced our collective resolve to protect and serve our nation with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
