To gain invaluable learning, new insights, and knowledge through experiential education, the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) conducted institutional visits to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Main Office Building, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, and to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on October 11, 2023.
The cadets belonging to the PPSA SANDIGMANLAYA Class of 2024 had a valuable opportunity to benchmark and widen their knowledge in crisis and disaster management and public safety as MMDA facilitated a lecture-seminar, conference, and site tour of their operations command center. The MMDA as a government agency mandated to perform planning, monitoring, coordinating, and exercising regulatory and supervisory authority over the delivery of metro-wide services within Metro Manila is a significant institution where PPSA could extend partnerships to provide more learning opportunities for the cadets.
Likewise, the cadets also visited the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) wherein they had the invaluable opportunity to gain insights into disaster preparedness and response strategies. During this visit, they engaged in informative discussions with experts on emergency management, explored the state-of-the-art emergency operation center, and witnessed firsthand how various agencies collaborate to ensure the safety and well-being of communities during times of crisis. This experiential learning not only broadened their horizons but also instilled in them a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to serving their nation in times of need.
These educational tours serve as significant pathways for PPSA cadets to acquire hands-on learning, crucial for their roles as future leaders in our country’s public safety sectors.
Together, we’re preparing the next generation to stand strong in the face of adversity and protect our communities.
