Institutional visit at Philippine National Police Forensic Group (PNP-FG)

The Philippine Public Safety Academy conducted an institutional visit to the Philippine National Police Forensic Group (PNP-FG) at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City on September 27, 2023.

As one of the operational units of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Forensic Group provides scientific services and technical support to PNP offices and other law enforcement agencies through the following divisions that specialize in different areas of forensic science – Fingerprint Identification Division, Firearms Identification Division, Medico-Legal Division, DNA Laboratory Division, Chemistry Division, Forensic Photography Division, Polygraph Division, Questioned Document Examination Division, Physical Identification Division, and Scene of the Crime Operations Division.

During the visit, the PPSA cadets were able to tour the PNP-FG’s state-of-the-art technologies that the Forensic Divisions are using in the identification, examination, and evaluation of pieces of evidence from the crime scene. They also had the opportunity to meet with the PNP-FG’s forensic scientists and learn about their work and expertise.

But beyond science and technology, the cadets were inspired by the dedication and passion of forensic scientists of the PNP Forensic Group. Their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to uncovering the truth and bringing justice to victims are worthy of emulation.

The institutional visit was a valuable learning experience for the cadets who gained insights into the PNP-FG’s capabilities and the important role they play in the criminal justice system. Likewise, it was an opportunity for the PPSA to explore ways to collaborate with them in the future to improve public safety.
