From its humble beginnings a year ago, the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) had little more than a vision and a handful of driven people eager to make a difference.
Today marks the First Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) with the theme “Paghubog at Pagsanay sa mga Tagapanglingkod ng Mamamayan tungo sa kanilang Kaligtasan” which was graced by ATTY. BENJAMIN C. ABALOS, JR., Secretary, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker. Several key officials and guests from the BFP, BJMP, PNP, other government organizations, resource persons, curriculum experts, and course directors also showed their support to the Academy and were awarded plaques of appreciation later on.
In her welcome remarks, JSSUPT LEONALYN O OLOAN, MPSA, PPSA Acting Director, delivered a message highlighting the tremendous undertakings the academy had accomplished since its inception. For only a short period, the academy had already built its reputation by showcasing how much it has accomplished, how far it has come, and how much it has to offer.
On the other hand, ATTY. ABALOS presented the DILG’s projects and initiatives and expressed his continuing support for the Academy by planning on providing for its own land space and more. He likened the Academy to a newborn child that needs nurturing for it to grow and flourish and committed to providing support.
In addition, he also officiated the signing and oath of commitment of the “No Hazing Policy” of the Corps of Cadets. The PPSA cadets pledge to abstain from and renounce hazing or maltreatment to fellow cadets and maintain zero hazing or maltreatment in the academy.
As the PPSA commemorates its first anniversary, its unwavering commitment to lead and serve with courage and integrity has brought opportunities to manifest quality, professionalism, and increased drive to make a difference in ways that were unimaginable years ago. With this, the academy is continuously dedicated to making impactful milestones in the future. It is only getting started and the best is yet to come.
