5-day BJMP Skills Refresher Course

In a bid to sharpen the marksmanship prowess of the members of PPSA Class 2025, a 5-day BJMP Skills Refresher Course was conducted last June 29-30, 2023, and July 3-5, 2023 at NPTI Firing Range, Brgy. Mayapa, Canlubang, Laguna. The new cadets have undergone a multitude of firing drills to work out their competencies in pistol and rifle marksmanship, VIP Protection Drills, and Tactical Transport Training (T3).

With the shooting prodigies from BJMP-CALABARZON STAR Team, JO3 Pat-og, JO2 Falangon, JO2 Bengdaen, JO2 Agustin, and JO1 Fanguinas, headed by their team leader, JINSP TRISTAN ALLAN MANZANAL, the in-depth learning sessions, and extensive drills proved valuable for the new cadets to master the science and art of marksmanship. Further, JSINSP LORD BRYCE KINAO conducted the lecture on VIP Security and Protection Training as the invited subject matter expert.

The said module, being a refresher course for the jail cadets, is also designed to usher in fire cadets to the field of discipline practiced by the BJMP. As consistently emphasized by the instructors, every gun handler’s core doctrine is to give definite precedence to safety, so apart from the fundamentals of marksmanship, they are also prompted to observe the cardinal rules of gun safety while handling firearms.

Among the areas focused on were firing drills, pistol reloading, assembly and disassembly of firearms, bussing and debussing of PDL in T3 simulation, performing of return demonstration through live fire for diagnostics, turning and facing with contact, VIP protection in one-man and four-man detail, and rifle marksmanship.

While time and the extent of training are considerably condensed as compared to the necessitated duration for the deliberate teaching of the intricacies of firearms, the event served its primary purpose to enhance and refresh the skills of the jail cadets and give an overview of BJMP skills to the fire cadets.

In its quest to foster holistic excellence, PPSA incessantly endeavors to provide more learning opportunities to develop the cadets into capable, proficient, and versatile public safety officers.
