Philippine Public Safety Academy (PPSA) was created under DILG Circular No. 2022-009 “Creation and Operationalization of Philippine Public Safety Academy pursuant to Republic Act 11279.”
It was established to facilitate and accelerate the smooth and harmonized transfer of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) to the Philippine National Police (PNP) from the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC).
Graduates of PPSA will be released to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology ((BJMP) as Commissioned Officers (Fire/Jail Inspectors). For the pioneering batch of PPSA Class 2024, 100 carefully selected Fire Officers and Jail Officers have undergone a series of processes from taking the PPSA Cadet Admission Test, Neuro-psychiatry Tests, Medical and Dental examinations, Physical Fitness Test, and the panel interview.
These cadets possess the following qualifications, which are also the basis of the recruitment:
-Must be a natural-born citizen of the Philippines
-At least two (2) years in service and not more than 28 years of age on the day of the appointment
-Weight is not more or less than 5 kilograms from the standard weight corresponding his/her height, age, or sex. (Body Index Mass Factor)
-Person of good moral character
-Pass the Medical and Dental Examinations, Neuro-psychiatry Tests, Physical Fitness Test, Drug Test, and Panel Interview
-No pending case before his/her appointment as FO1/JO1
-Not convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude
-No parental obligation
Being an institution under the PPSC, the Cadetship Program of PPSA offers graduate degree courses for BFP and BJMP personnel namely, Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Administration and Bachelor of Science in Penology and Corrections Administration. Such courses comprise 150 units, 120 of which is the academic, and 30 units of non-academic complete the number within a two-year trimestral.
